Everly’s Story

In June 2017, Jenny & Hal were excited to learn they were expecting their first baby. Fast forward to November 30, 2017 they learned their seemingly, perfect pregnancy was far from that. Their precious baby girl, Everly, wasn’t growing as she should. She was diagnosed as having intrauterine growth restriction or IUGR. They were told to prepare for a stillbirth. But God, had other plans. At their next sonogram, they found out Everly had grown big enough to “survive” outside of the womb. A few days later on January 3, 2018, they delivered their feisty girl at a whopping 570 grams or 1 lb 4 oz. She did well in the NICU, until she didn’t. She developed necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) on day 4. God, saw her tiny body failing and He brought her home on the 6th day. They were blessed to have their family pay for her service. They knew they needed to pay it forward. ForEverly changed was formed in 2023 to do just that. Everly may have only lived 6 short days, but in 6 short days God used her and continues to do so.

How to Help

ForEverly Changed is always looking for churches or individuals to partner with. If you would like more information about how you can get involved, please email us at foreverlychanged@gmail.com. We also would be a great donation option in lieu of flowers.

I am Jenny Rogers, founder of ForEverly Changed. Starting a non-profit in memory of Everly has been on my heart since 2018. I wasn’t sure what it would look like, but I knew God would guide me in the right direction. I have been heavily involved in the loss mom community in some aspect since losing Everly. I am so much more than JUST a loss mom. I am also Hal’s wife as well as Everly & Zoe’s momma. We live in Ropesville just outside of Lubbock with our cat, Lucy. I look forward to how God will lead us in the future to caring for families enduring loss.

My name is Heather DeVore and I currently live in Idalou, TX with my husband and two daughters. I worked as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal ICU for over nine years, providing family-centered care to infants. My favorite part of working with families in the NICU has always been teaching families and helping parents to recover some of the loss of control they may feel having an infant in the hospital. Every baby for which I have provided nursing care leaves a little footprint on my heart. As the admitting nurse when Everly Jade was born, I delivered a tongue depressor with Everly's tiny footprints to Jenny as a way of sharing the impact she made on me, even in those first few hours of her life. I am honored to continue to serve West Texas families with the ForEverly Changed organization and help to relieve some of the burden of losing an infant.

My name is Maria Picon and I was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. I currently reside in Andrews, TX, as a preschool teacher with my husband, Armando, and our daughter Scarlett, who was a micro-preemie and had a lengthy stay in NICU. During our NICU stay, we knew Everly and her family as she and Scarlett were neighbors. While our stories had very different outcomes, over the years, Jenny and I have watched one another grow in our motherhood journeys and have always supported one another along the way. I am honored to be a part of ForEverly Changed and help continue sharing Everly’s story and legacy through serving fellow NICU families.
